New
Year's Eve Party at Albert - Victoria
This distinguished pub was rebuilt in 1865 and is a Grade
II listed building that has survived the Blitz. The large
ground-floor bar is smart, comfortable and bright; the huge
etched and cut glass windows allow the daylight to flood
in and at night, original gas lamps burn outside. The bar
counter is a made from heavy, highly polished mahogany and
is topped with a clock.
An ornate staircase leads to the restaurant and on the walls
hang portraits of British Prime Ministers, from Salisbury,
to an autographed one of Blair. Mrs Thatcher even unveiled
her own here.
It is also close to the Houses of Parliament and the location,
as well as the friendly staff and quality of food, have
made this a popular choice over the years with everyone
from Members of Parliament to personalities from TV, Sport
and Film.
